Another fun day learning about space!
16th Jan 2026
P4 enjoyed exploring how astronauts eat in space and discovered why food must be freeze-dried. The children learned that freeze-dried food is lightweight, lasts a long time, and does not crumble into floating crumbs, which could be dangerous in zero gravity. To bring the learning to life, the pupils had the opportunity to try freeze-dried sweets for themselves, comparing the taste and texture to normal food. The children also deepened their understanding of how things expand when frozen by observing how the sweets burst out of the their wrappers during the freezing process. A fun and memorable way to deepen their understanding of life in space!
