Big Garden Bird Watch 2026

23rd Jan 2026

This week, Primary 5 pupils, together with the Eco Council, took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch. Mrs McNeill shared a story about bird song, and pupils made bird feeders to place around the playground.

The class then carried out a bird survey outdoors, recording the different species they spotted. Everyone was excited to see a wide variety of birds in our playground, including robins, blue tits and hooded crows.

Back in class, pupils analysed their findings and presented the results in a bar chart. We are looking forward to repeating the survey in a few weeks’ time to see if the number of birds visiting our playground has increased.

Some pupils also chose to make extra bird feeders to take home and continue the Big Garden Birdwatch in their own gardens over the weekend.
