Egyptian Day

17th Apr 2026

Today, Primary 5 were transported back in time to the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. The boys and girls dressed up as mummies, pharaohs, and Egyptian queens, bringing history to life with their fantastic costumes.

We took photographs inside Egyptian temples and beside the marvellous pyramids, before writing our names using hieroglyphics and cracking some Egyptian codes. After snack time, the children enjoyed sampling some Ancient Egyptian cuisine, including dates, figs, bread, grapes, and honey.

Using their knowledge of mummification, the children followed the steps to mummify an orange, gaining a hands-on understanding of this ancient process. Before lunch, we danced like Egyptians and learned some traditional dance moves, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

In the afternoon, the children used Minecraft to explore the world of Ancient Egypt. They walked through temples and pyramids, explored the area around the Sphinx and even met some Egyptian people along the way.

It was a fun-filled and engaging day that truly brought our learning to life. A huge thank you to everyone for their support in providing the wonderful costumes, they made the day extra special.
