Outdoor Numeracy

15th May 2026

This week, Primary 5 have been busy developing their understanding of measuring length and distance. Today, we took part in an active and engaging numeracy lesson outdoors. As part of our sports day practice, pupils took part in the long jump, carefully measuring their distances in centimetres.

Back in the classroom, they applied their knowledge by converting these measurements into metres, ordering their results, and comparing and contrasting distances. It was a fantastic opportunity to combine practical learning with mathematical skills, and everyone showed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout!
